Wilder was a prolific writer of both publications and plays. His writing career flourished following his departure from Lawrenceville -- Our Town won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1938 and The Skin of Our Teeth won in 1942. Four of Thornton’s theatrical works – A Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden (1931), The Skin of our Teeth (1942), Broadway show-stopper Hello, Dolly! (1964), and Our Town (1938) – have been performed by The Periwig Club since his departure from the School.
