(3) Dear Instructor,
(4) My object
(5) in addressing you, is
(6) pertaining to several
(7) little matters we left
(8) unsettled.
(9) The Society neglected
(10) to write to “Charles H.
(11) Matthews Esq” the Gentleman
(12) elected to deliver our
(13) Annual Address on the
(14) coming Anniversary (Oct 14th
(15) or 15th).
(16) Wishing to write to
(17) him about it, and not
(18) knowing his address, I
(19) take this opportunity of
(20) asking you for it; for which
(21) I will be very much obliged.

(1) And if you have no objections
(2) We {the Society} will be
(3) more than thankful if
(4) you would drop him a
(5) line in addition to ours.
(6)        You will please let
(7) me know as soon as
(8) convenient.
(9)        Enclosed you will
(10) please find the lists of
(11) names and amount
(12) each contributed towards
(13) the “American Messenger.”
(14)      I have collected one
(15) dollar and will collect
(16) the rest on my return.
(17)      I send you this statement
(18) in order the we may have
(19) the paper on our return.
(20)      I arrived home
(21) yesterday {Tuesday} having
(22) spent two weeks very
(23) pleasantly with Gilbert

(2) Chester Walbridge very well
(3) also A. Van Deventer and
(4) Howard Conover whom I
(5) was with a few days,
(6) Remember me kindly
(7) to your family and Mr
(8) Hugh Hamill.
