Dear [politics],
I have read your official statement on the issue
and I know you are well aware of the current situation,
but forgive me, because I fail to see what you intend to do.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand how much you clearly care;
your statement was worded just carefully enough to convince me of that,
it’s just
this isn’t the first time this has happened and
once is already more than too much.

Dear [media],
I am sorry to bother, and farbeit from me to tell you how to do your job
but I’m seeing a lot of things that are making me uncomfortable.
Well… I mean, it should; everything you’re covering should,
but the wrong kind of uncomfortable. The dangerous kind.
The kind that makes me think you’re not doing your job very well,
Or
that you are doing your job much too well.
Either way, please stop. I am concerned you are making things worse.

Dear [America],
I want to tell you this is your fault,
or something of that nature,
but I fear that would not be the full truth.
For it is also the fault of some men 400 years ago,
or of a specific man, in a position of power, upholding a grand tradition.
Well how about this, tell me if this would help.
It is the fault of all those who have done nothing to force it to improve.

Dear [community],

I’m sorry.

Sincerely,

me.

(Student, Class of 2021)
